Ecommerce Manager / Website Manager / Strategist
Permanent · Full-time · Auckland
The role
New Territory is looking for a Ecommerce Manager / Website Manager / Strategist to help clients make confident decisions about their websites and digital platforms.
You’ll understand the business behind each site, help select suitable apps and integrations, and maintain a clear roadmap for content, features and ongoing improvements. The role spans brand websites, content platforms and e-commerce rather than being limited to online stores.
You’ll work closely with clients, designers and developers to turn priorities into practical briefs. When a client needs campaigns or audience acquisition, you’ll coordinate with specialist marketing partners, who lead that strategy and delivery.
What you’ll do
Understand each client’s website, business needs and existing tools, and turn those into a prioritised programme of work.
Compare platforms, apps and integrations, explaining costs, trade-offs and operational requirements in plain language.
Help clients manage content and day-to-day website decisions, identifying where training, clearer processes or technical changes would help.
Write clear briefs for designers and developers, coordinate releases and review work against the agreed requirements.
Review website behaviour and client feedback to identify usability, performance and functionality improvements.
Keep stakeholders aligned through regular conversations, clear reporting and realistic priorities.
Work with specialist marketing partners to translate their requirements into website, app and integration tasks. Campaign management, paid media and email programme delivery sit with those partners.
What you’ll bring
Experience managing websites, digital platforms or client delivery, with examples of practical improvements you have helped implement.
Confidence evaluating apps, CMS and e-commerce tools, with an understanding of how integrations affect day-to-day operations.
The ability to interpret website data and feedback without losing sight of the client’s business needs.
Clear communication and commercial judgement: you can explain a recommendation, weigh its benefits against cost and effort, and help a client decide.
Strong organisation and follow-through when coordinating designers, developers, clients and external partners.
A thoughtful approach to user journeys, content management and ongoing website quality.
Also valuable
Experience with Shopify, Sanity, Kirby or comparable platforms; app selection; website migrations; technical project scoping; or client training. You do not need to be a developer, but should be comfortable working closely with a technical team.
