Senior Digital Designer / Design Director

New Territory is looking for a Senior Digital Designer / Design Director to lead the creation of distinctive digital experiences for ambitious brands.

You’ll shape creative direction and translate complex ideas into intuitive, visually compelling websites. From early concepts and user journeys through to detailed interfaces and development handover, you’ll bring a clear point of view and a high standard of craft to every stage.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can balance brand expression with usability and commercial goals. You’ll work closely with clients, strategists and developers to create experiences that feel considered, perform well and give businesses a clear point of difference.

Shape the creative direction of projects, translating client ambitions, brand identities and business goals into clear design concepts.

Develop user journeys, site structures, wireframes and prototypes that make complex content and interactions feel intuitive.

Design distinctive, responsive interfaces with close attention to typography, layout, imagery and interaction.

Build reusable components and design systems that maintain consistency while giving each brand its own expression.

Present work to clients, explain your thinking and guide feedback towards the strongest outcome.

Collaborate with developers throughout delivery, providing clear specifications and reviewing builds to ensure the finished experience reflects the design.

Contribute to the studio’s creative standards through thoughtful feedback, shared references and exploration of new tools and techniques.

A strong portfolio of digital work demonstrating both creative ambition and thoughtful UI/UX.

Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with an organised approach to files, components and handover.

A strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility and how people navigate and interact with websites.

The ability to extend a brand identity into a complete digital experience.

Confidence taking a project from an open brief through to a resolved design, while managing feedback and deadlines.

Clear communication and the ability to build productive relationships with clients and collaborators.

An understanding of how design decisions affect conversion, performance and the practical realities of development.

Experience with motion graphics, interaction design, generative tools or 3D design. Experience setting creative direction across multiple projects or helping other designers develop their work is also welcome.

New Territory is an independent digital studio working with clients around the world. We design, build and support considered websites and digital platforms, working closely with clients and creative partners.

This role is based at our Auckland studio, New Zealand.

This is a permanent, full-time role of 40 hours per week. Remuneration will reflect your skills, experience and the scope of the role.
