Vollē — Interactivity, Precision and Execution. We designed and developed a new website for Vollē Golf, in collaboration with Field of Play. This slick platform centres around precision and execution, with custom functionality designed specifically to match Vollē’s market-leading performance.
It’s always exciting for our team to collaborate with companies looking to push the boundaries of digital design. As the rising star of performance golf balls, innovation is at the core of Vollē’s outlook. We developed a range of custom features to elevate this site from a simple e-commerce platform to a dynamic, innovative extension of Vollē’s brand.
Given that achieving beyond the expected is what Vollē’s products do best - it made sense that its new website should do the same.
Brand refresh and brief for Vollē’s new platform
Vollē’s mission is to elevate the game of golf, by creating high level products that are accessible to all. In 2018 Vollē launched New Zealand's first premium direct-to-consumer golf ball. Now its products compete with premium, world-renowned brands; achieving the same high quality with a notably smaller price tag. All Vollē golf balls are performance backed by machine testing and available in a range of styles.
Held back by the limitations of its previous site, Vollē required a new digital platform that would extend its outreach, and provide a more considerate UX experience and effective e-commerce system, allowing for client customisation. As the new site was also intended to coincide with a complete brand refresh, it also needed to align with the new aesthetics. The result is a unique and visually striking site, featuring seemingly effortless animations and interactions that reflect the excellence that Vollē delivers with every shot.
New custom discount system
To prioritise the e-commerce usability of Vollē’s new platform, we built the site using Shopify. A core part of this build was our development of custom apps to improve the overall UX, such as a bespoke discount system.
Vollē wanted to offer discounts on both one-off purchases and subscriptions. To make this possible we created a custom volume discount system, using Recharge to handle recurring purchases. However, there were no third-party options for subscription-friendly volume discounts. We created a bespoke Shopify app that allowed the Vollē team to set up pricing tiers at specific quantity breaks and generate product variants. The storefront then selects the appropriate product variant based on the amount the customer is buying and validates the cart as quantities change.

Product Description Page
The product description page (PDP) contains our favourite custom features. Here you’ll discover an interactive spinning ball render for 360-degree viewing, as well as an exploding golf ball designed to highlight key performance and material features. Not to mention the interactive personalisation feature, giving customers the ability to upload custom logos and view how they’ll look on the ball. Showing you in real time how Vollē seamlessly combines design and performance.
Using data displays to highlight product performance
Highly detailed graphics feature throughout the site in the interactive data displays. These graphs and charts highlight where Vollē’s balls benchmark alongside industry favourites, using data captured by independent equipment testing firms; ensuring the results are acquired with accuracy and precision.
The graphs are designed to allow customers to compare the performance of different products against the complete data set, therefore promoting a transparent and equitable e-commerce experience. The interactive elements allow customers to view and sort through the results based on the specific ball, swing, or club used. Whatever their preference, we’ve accounted for it.

We’re proud of this collaboration and build, but reading about it doesn’t quite do the site justice.
