Realising a concept, the creation of Somm Our latest project, Somm, aimed at delivering an exceptional urban cellar door experience. We were entrusted by Foley Hospitality Group, with whom we've had the pleasure of collaborating on website design and development in the past, to be involved from the project's inception.
Our role has been comprehensive, encompassing critical aspects such as concept, naming, branding, website design, brand collateral, and interior architecture oversight. Acting as a cohesive consultant among all stakeholders, we ensured seamless integration and a unified vision throughout the project. The result? A meticulously crafted urban cellar door experience that embodies our collective expertise and a sommelier's commitment to excellence
The heart of the brand
Our aim was to develop a brand identity that encapsulates the essence of New Zealand's wine country but places it within the urban environment at the heart of Auckland’s waterfront, showcasing the talent of our winemakers and sommeliers across the nation. The Somm brand serves as a tribute to the art, science, and rich history of wine. It embodies the joy of sharing and savouring exceptional vintages.
In essence, Somm represents the spirit of all those who hold a deep appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship of winemaking, the beauty of the vineyards, and the rich cultural heritage that surrounds wine in New Zealand.
Crafting an online presence
We designed and developed the website to not only cater to the typical requirements of a hospitality website, such as an intuitive booking platform and comprehensive food and drink menus but also strongly emphasise showcasing the best New Zealand wines. At the heart of our design is the desire to provide visitors with a deep understanding, education and appreciation of the wines on offer, from the region they come from to the vineyards where they are produced.
By exploring the Somm website, you can delve into a light history of the wines, allowing customers to gain insight into the background and characteristics of each wine region. This knowledge serves as a prelude to the exceptional wine journey that awaits you when you step through the doors of Somm.
Through the use of rich colours and carefully directed imagery, we created a multi-dimensional website that invites you to immerse yourself in the world of Somm. Each layer of our design represents a facet of the wine experience, providing you with a glimpse of the enchanting atmosphere and extraordinary moments that await you at Somm.
Seamlessly connecting the digital to the physical
Shifting beyond this project's concepting and virtual aspects, we worked closely with Somm and Foley Hospitality to ensure all physical touch points of the Somm experience were considered within the brand experience and crafted to the highest standard. From menu designs and the paper it’s printed on, the custom light boxes guiding you through the doors and the flights you receive your wine on we ensure ambience and the allure of the brand is translated in an authentic way improving the overall customer and brand experience.
Working closely with Somm and Foley Hospitality, we thoughtfully designed and crafted key physical touchpoints of the Somm experience to enhance the customer and brand journey. This went beyond concepts and virtual aspects.
Attention was given to every detail, from menu design and paper selection to the entryway lightbox guiding guests and the presentation of wine flights. Our goal was to authentically convey the brand's allure and ambience in a way that elevates the overall experience.
Our collaborative efforts created a cohesive and refined physical presence that enhances the customer's interaction with the brand, ensuring a memorable and immersive Somm experience.
